Improved Access

The Practice participates in an Improved Access initiative, which means patients can also be offered appointments with nurses and doctors on alternate Saturday mornings (09:00 to 12:00 noon). Working within our current staffing capacity we are doing our best to ensure that you have access to additional appointments outside of these hours. As a result you may be offered an early morning or evening appointment. If this is something you would prefer please ask about availability when booking an appointment.

The appointments are only bookable in advance. Please note at these times the Health Centre doors will only be opened to admit patients who have booked appointments.

There are no other services available at this time and any urgent healthcare issue should be directed to NHS 111.

Telephone Consultations

Many problems don’t need a face-to-face consultation and can be resolved with a pre-booked telephone consultation.

Talking to a doctor or a nurse can save you a trip to the surgery and allows us to offer an appointment to someone else.

Doctors and nurses generally undertake their telephone consultations at the end of the morning surgery.

Cancel an Appointment

It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.

Home Visits

Home visits are an important part of the service we offer. However, because of the ever increasing pressure on time we are only able to offer this service if attendance at the surgery is not possible.

Please remember that several patients can be seen at the surgery in the time it takes to do a home visit, so we normally expect patients to come to the surgery unless they are medically unfit to attend.

The doctor may request that you attend the surgery, as it is the best place to make a thorough examination of patients and to arrange any tests and treatments that are needed.

Patients are requested to telephone the practice before 10.00am if a visit is required that day.

Please give the receptionist as much information as possible to enable the doctor to allocate priority to house calls.

Late For Your Appointment

Please attend your appointment on time, if you are late you may not be seen. If you are not seen you will not be able to rearrange your appointment until the next working day-except in the event of an medical emergency that requires immediate attention.

Interpreter

If you require an interpreter to attend with you when you see your Doctor please notify the receptionist and she will arrange this for you.

Text Reminder Service

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.

Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.
