Dr Kate Nicholls is to retire from Charlotte Keel Medical Practice at the end of March 2018 with her last working day being 23 March 2018.
We know that all the staff, and many of our 17,000 patients, will greatly miss Dr Nicholls who has served the practice for more than 33 years.
We wish her a long and happy retirement.
We wanted to share with you the message that Dr Nicholls has written to us all.
At the end of March 2018, I shall be retiring from being a family doctor. I will be leaving Charlotte Keel Medical Practice, confident in the knowledge that there is a great team of people here, both doctors, nurses, and administrative staff, who will all continue to work hard to provide really good care to the group of more than 17 thousand patients that are registered with the GPs here.
When I qualified 40 years ago, I had no idea that my path would lead to Easton! I had a specific interest in social and mental health and found that I enjoyed the continuity of looking after families – indeed it turned out that I would care for generations of patients in my 33 years at Charlotte Keel, seeing babies that were born to mums and dads whom I had known (and liked) since they themselves were born!
One of the joys of working here has been the strength of the team of staff here. It is not always easy working in a busy inner city practice but it is the most rewarding thing one can do. Indeed it has without doubt been a privilege and an honour to work side by side with some of the most dedicated and devoted people in the NHS.
I would like to thank the many patients I have seen over the years for making my life both interesting and challenging; I will miss all of you, but it is time to move on with my life and enjoy more time with my husband, children and grand-children; to travel the world and read more books; and to get fitter with more dancing, walking and swimming!
Best Wishes for the future.
